Games on iPod Touch might not sound like fun
There is one huge problem with gaming on the iPod Touch, and its something so small most developers haven’t even thought about it at all.
Think about it, how do most iPhone owners listen to the game they are playing? A majority of them are playing the game through the speaker on the iPhone, makes sense right? They can control the volume of the game using the volume rocker on the side and there is no problem here at all. iPod Touch gamers on the other hand usually play their games through headphones because the Touch doesn’t come with an internal speaker.
So with the headphones on and no volume rocker there is no way to control the sound of the game. While most developers set the sound to a moderate level there are sometimes that the games are cracked to 11 and other times when you hear no sound at all. This seems to be a problem for both Apple and the developers. Apple gives us no way to control the sound of all apps, and no double taping the home screen and adjusting the volume doesn’t work, and most developers give us no option for volume control. Sometimes this can be a big pain when you have a game blasting noise into your ear at once, and yes this can cause damage.

I have had this problem now for a couple of days. One time the music was so loud I had a ringing in my ear for the rest of the day, and a regular concert goer, and sometimes the games are on mute it seems. I have found a loop hole though that might help you out. In Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart when the opening video is playing if you tap the screen and adjust the volume it will adjust the system volume and affect the other games on your iPod Touch. I am not sure if other games have opening videos like this or not but I can confirm that Crash does work.
Game makers we need volume control in our games.
